No A/C.... here are some ways to keep your House Cool this summer

ree

Obviously you can purchase portable fans, but below are some things to also consider:

  1. Close your blinds, especially on South and West facing windows. Even better would be to invest in some black-out blinds/curtains to help shield the house from the summer sun.

  2. Block the Heat from the Home. Window Tinting, Awnings, large Potted Plants are some ways. Deciduous trees planted outside block heat in the summer but let sunshine in during the winter.

  3. Adjust ceiling fans to alter the direction of the air during summer.

  4. Close doors and seal gaps. Keeps the cool air in the home where its needed.

  5. If the outside temp cools in the evening, open doors and windows to create air movement. Its also better to do your evening cooking outside if possible!

  6. Fan Hack - place a bowl of ice in front of the fan in your bedroom, etc.

  7. Wear loose, light clothing like cotton to help keep things breathable.

  8. Manage Heat Sources. LED bulbs instead of Incandescent, turn off gas fireplace pilot lights, turn off appliances and devices no required.

Hope these were helpful, stay cool this summer and enjoy!
