Clean Your Gutters and Downspouts
Summer is the optimal time for your gutters and downspouts’ to be cleaned. You’ll need to clear out any debris that could result in clogs blocking the water flow. If water is left to pool in your gutters, it could cause damage to your roof or your home’s foundation.
Inspect Your Roof for Any Damage
Summer is the season of severe storms, and you need to monitor your roof for potential damage. If you notice any missing or damaged shingles, you must let a professional address those issues immediately. Putting it off could worsen the damage, leading to more extensive repairs down the road. This can be done by the homeowner in a safe manner, or reach out to a roofing contractor or your home inspector.
Check and Service Your Heating / Cooling (HVAC) System
As your HVAC system transitions to keeping your home cool in the summer (for those fortunate to have AC :), you must ensure it’s up to the task. You should schedule a professional to come and service your system to ensure it’s running efficiently, IE wash and clean the condensing coil outside, clean the Ducts and Registers and change that air filter.
Review and Maintain the Landscaping Around Your House
A well-maintained lawn and landscaping will enhance your home’s aesthetic appeal and make it stand out to future buyers. While reviewing your outdoor space some Best "Practices" are:
1) Ensure there is at least 12 inches between your house foundation and any vegetation. 2) Check that there is adequate slope away from the foundation. (we want to ensure rain and snow melt move away from the foundation)
